What Is a Community Foundation?

Rather than telling you where to give, the Foundation helps you clarify your goals and equips you with the tools to carry them out.

Rooted in Northwest Georgia
Established in 1998, the Community Foundation of Northwest Georgia was formed by local philanthropists asking a simple question: How can we coordinate our giving to create greater local impact? Twenty-five years later, the answer continues to take shape through trusted stewardship and deep local relationships.
As of December 31, 2025, the Community Foundation of Northwest Georgia:
Stewards $111.9 million in total charitable assets
Has facilitated $96.7 million in total grants since its founding
Administers 262 active charitable funds and trusts dedicated to strengthening communities
In 2025 alone, the Foundation awarded 863 grants and scholarships totaling $12.52 million, reflecting both the generosity of its donors and the growing needs of the region. The Foundation serves philanthropists throughout twelve Northwest Georgia counties and awards grants in Bartow, Whitfield, and Gordon Counties — ensuring generosity stays rooted where it matters most.
